HMRC Helplines to close again

Engaged Phone

March 20, 2024

After the trial last Summer, HMRC has announced an even longer and far-reaching closure of its telephone helplines this year, with the changes being permanent.

At a time when responses, particularly tax refunds, are being seriously delayed, removing the ability to speak to a person to get things moving is extremely disappointing.

HMRC needs to be inspected urgently. They seem to be becoming an agency that believes they can simply do whatever they like.

I have too many nightmare stories where taxpayers have had appalling treatment.

The agent-dedicated line will continue, so it is more important than ever for taxpayers to have an advisor who can deal directly with HMRC. Make sure you have a good advisor.

The timing of this is perfect as we are currently finalising our latest parody video – a tongue-in-cheek advert for my alter-ego ‘Jay’. Stay tuned.
